Williams had expected to come borne after contracting malaria for the second time in early 1967. The 21-year-old private first class had attended Benjamin Franklin High School and was married only a week before shipping out to Vietnam, where he was assigned to Company C of the 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry. Williams died on Feb. 4, 1967. in addition to his wife. he was survived by his parents. four brothers and five sisters.
