The 20-year-old Army corporal attended Overbrook High School and painted cars and trucks before entering the service in August 1967. Allen, an Army "Pioneer" scout, joined Company B of the 8th Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile), in Vietnam a week before Christmas Day 1967 and was killed in action on Feb. 26, 1968. He was survived by his parents, two younger brothers and three younger sisters.
